Last night, the US Senate passed the 2011 National Defense Authorization Act. The is a normal and common thing which happens every year. The difference is that this year they added a clause to the bill which can be interpreted to mean that the military can be used on US soil and against US citizens. It further can be interpreted to mean that US citizens can be detained indefinitely without being charged with a crime.
For those of you, like me, who are sickened by this sort of power grab from our representatives; we do have a recourse. The bill will have to be voted on again in the House at least once more. Contact your representatives IMMEDIATELY and tell them that you oppose this legislation in it's current form. Also, contact the Whitehouse and tell President Obama that he should not sign this bill.
